On September 21 and 22, Ariel Liebman, Professor for Sustainable Energy Systems at Monash University and Director of the Monash Energy Institute in Melbourne, Australia, visited the FEN Research Campus.
During Prof. Liebman's stay in Aachen, two joint workshops were organized by the FEN DC-Socio-Economics team to identify key challenges and opportunities for an accelerated energy transition in Australia and Germany. Researchers addressed the role of socio-technical experiments in finding optimal solutions in both countries, as well as techno-economic challenges and matching policies.
In addition, RWTH Aachen researchers from various FEN projects showed some of the university's laboratories, such as the Center for Ageing, Reliability and Lifetime Prediction of Electrochemical and Power Electronic Systems (CARL). Moreover, Prof. Liebman gave an inspiring talk about his research at the Institute for High Voltage Equipment and Grids, Digitalization and Energy Economics (IAEW) together with Dr. Michael Andres from Fraunhofer FIT.
We thank Prof. Liebman for the great and insightful discussions and look forward to the future joint work.
